Labor Relations Work |

Hello, John Fitzgerald here. I recently retired as a Captain and Chief of Staff of the Montgomery County Police Department, one of the large county agencies that ring Washington, DC. I am also a licensed attorney and have been for many years. In the final portion of my tenure with the MCPD, I represented management in its labor relations work. Today, I assist Thomas & Means with those same concerns. It was many years ago that I first became aware of this firm and the quality of what they do. I am now part of their team. Review of your labor relations practices.
Identification of strengths and weaknesses.
Recommendations for improvements.
Consulting as to specific labor relations issues.
Actual involvement in the collective bargaining and negotiation processes.
Ideally, our labor relations work would not enlarge the perceived divide between “us” and “them.” There are “win-wins” to be had. But management shouldn’t bargain away its considerable, critical prerogatives. If it has already done so, there are ways to get them back. This is what we do.
