Police personnel investigating crime can be subjected to pressure and confronted with problems from many directions - the media, judges, prosecutors, victims, and citizens. Difficulties can arise unexpectedly and in many areas, including evidence collection and handling, Miranda warnings and waivers, informant use and management, and search warrants.
