James "Dan" Olson

Dan Olson is a Lieutenant with the Phoenix Police Department. As a sergeant in the Professional Standards Bureau, he conducted the largest misconduct and largest shooting investigations in the history of the department. Currently assigned to the Legal Support Division, he supervises the Inspections Unit and the Risk Management Unit. Lt. Olson works with city risk management in the resolution of civil claims against the police department to include incidents of police misconduct and use of force. He has participated in many different facets of misconduct investigations and use of force issues. An eighteen year Phoenix police employee, Lieutenant Olson received both a B.S. degree and a M.Ed. from Northern Arizona University.
