Jan Mirikitani

Jan Mirikitani was a member of the Communication Faculty at St. Louis Community College at Meramec (1985-1999). In 1989 voted the St. Louis Community College District-Wide Innovator of the Year. 1989 and 1993 Phi Theta Kappa Award for teaching and academic excellence. In 1994, Jan was selected as "Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers". In March 1999, Phi Theta Kappa Academic Honor Society named her "Outstanding Community Leader".

Mirikitani teaches communication competencies and leadership laws and proficiencies. Jan has presented programs on Workforce 2000 diversity issues, developing work teams, sexual harassment issues, ethics, synergistic decision-making, and stress management. Jan has worked for federal, state, county and city governments and numerous corporations, school districts and civic groups.

She has taught police recruits, patrol officers, field training instructors, supervisory personnel, dispatchers, reserve officers, and command staff.
